Description

"Marc Hébrart Rive Gauche/Rive Droite Brut Champagne Grand Cru" - this is an exclusive house champagne made from the best farm grapes.

This piquant and characteristic, light straw-colored "cuvée" accurately reflects the desire to express both sides of the river, subtly combining Aÿ "Pinot Noir" red berry fruits and fig complexity with the definition of ripe northern Côte des Blancs "Chardonnay" white peaches and the sharp, roasted coffee bean complexity resulting from fermentation in old barrels.

The champagne is made from carefully selected grapes, and the vineyard characteristics are crucial to the wine's quality. The "Grand Cru" designation ensures that only the best grapes are used.

"Pinot Noir" grapes are collected from Aÿ (Pruche, Cheuzelles, Longchamp, Cauffour, Le Léon) growing sites, while "Chardonnay" is from Oiry and Chouilly (Justice, Montaigu, Les Robarts) growing sites.

Fully fermented and aged in small old barrels, this wine is an anomaly in the "Hébrart" style, but retains the house and its "Grand Cru" terroir DNA. After malolactic fermentation, the champagne is aged on lees for 60+ months. The champagne is aged in oak barrels.

Dosage: 4 g/l.

"The 2016 Brut Rive Gauche-Rive Droite Grand Cru is a blend of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from parcels in A , Avize, Chouilly and Oiry. Airy and perfumed in the glass, the 2016 is a Champagne of understated elegance more than anything else. White flowers, pear, mint, chamomile and crushed rocks are beautifully lifted. Dosage is 4 grams per liter. Disgorged: October 18, 2022."

About brand

Jean-Paul Hébrart took over the management of the Champagne Marc Hébrart estate from his father, Marc Hébrart, in 1997. The estate is located in the Vallée de la Marne subregion of Champagne. Marc Hébrart began producing champagne under his own name in 1964. Today, the family owns 14 hectares of vineyards spread across 65 plots in six villages: 1er Cru vineyards in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Avenay-Val-d'Or, and Bisseuil, as well as Grand Cru villages in Aÿ, Chouilly, and Oiry in the Côte des Blancs region.

The "Spécial Club Champagne" represents the highest classification level that grower-producers can achieve. Membership in this exclusive club requires strict adherence to rigorous quality standards, with an intensive, multi-stage inspection process that begins each year in early February. Marc Hébrart has been a member of Club Trésors de Champagne, also known as "Spécial Club," since 1985.

Wine Style

Hébrart Champagnes are full-bodied and expressive, yet not heavy. The entire range is of consistently high quality and offers an excellent price-to-quality ratio.

Prestigious Vineyards

The winery owns prestigious vineyards, some acquired as early as 1962. Among them, the most notable are:

  • Mareuil-sur-Aÿ 1er Cru – the winery’s primary vineyard, growing ‘Pinot Noir’ and ‘Chardonnay’ grapes.
  • Chouilly and Oiry Grand Cru – top-tier vineyards dedicated to ‘Chardonnay’ grapes.
  • Aÿ Grand Cru – a renowned vineyard known for its exceptional ‘Pinot Noir’ grapes.

These are complemented by lesser-known but uniquely expressive vineyards in Avenay-Val-d'Or and Bisseuil.

Aging and Consumption Period

Jean-Paul Hébrart Champagnes are perfectly balanced and enjoyable to drink immediately, while also having the potential to age and develop beautifully over time. For example, "Spécial Club" Champagnes are aged for 36 months before release, adding extra complexity and depth.
