Description

Galet de Bourgogne is a traditional, handmade cheese made from raw goat’s milk and coated with vegetable ash. This farmhouse cheese is shaped by hand, helping it retain its delicate texture and authentic character.

This briefly ripened cheese stands out with its greyish rind, coated in vegetable charcoal and covered with a thin, moist, lightly wrinkled layer. Inside, the paste is snow-white and gently fluffy. The aroma is subtle and fresh, while the palate reveals notes of fresh cream and cultured milk, with a very gentle expression of goat’s milk character. It is a light, fresh and elegant cheese.

Galet de Bourgogne can be served on a cheese board, paired with fresh bread, crisp crackers, honey, fig jam or fresh summer salads, or enjoyed on its own. It pairs especially well with fresh, mineral white wines made from Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay grapes (without pronounced oak influence), as well as dry sparkling wine. For a red wine pairing, choose a light, fruit-driven Pinot Noir or an elegant Cabernet Franc, which will gently complement the cheese’s delicate character without overpowering it.
