Red dry
A classic Bordeaux-style red, combining ripe fruit expression, balanced structure and an elegance suited to everyday yet quality enjoyment. It reflects the Right Bank Bordeaux tradition, where softer tannins and juicy fruit are at the forefront.
On the nose, a palette of red and dark berries unfolds: cherries, raspberries, blackcurrants and plums, complemented by light spice notes, subtle tobacco, cedar and a gentle earthy touch that gives the wine its unmistakable Bordeaux character.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, clean and harmonious. Tannins are soft and polished, while lively acidity supports the fruit and adds freshness. Flavours are led by red berries, light spice and a delicate mineral line.
The grapes are grown on clay and limestone soils typical of the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation, allowing for good ripeness while maintaining structural balance. The wine is made using classic Bordeaux winemaking methods, with the aim of preserving fruit purity, elegance and versatility.
Serve at 16–18 °C; pairs well with roast chicken and Provençal herbs, pork loin with mushroom sauce, and lightly aged hard cheeses.
In 1994 Jonathan Malthus, Englishman originally from Africa, realized his old dream – sold his industrial engineering firm and bought a vineyard in the heart of French winemaking - Bordeaux, Saint-Emillione. Arriving in Saint-Émilion during the ‘garage period’ in the 1990s when breaking the rules of classic Bordeaux was all the rave, Jonathan soon gained a reputation for being able to produce a range of wines which stood out just as successfully for being unique as for being top quality. Bold winemaking technologies: extremely low yields, double grape re-harvesting, low-temperature fermentation, helped British winemaker make the Saint-Emillion grand cru list. Mr. Maltus has always been a strong believer that a bottle of wine should be judged by the taste of its contents over the ‘big name’ label slapped on the front.
