Red dry
An exceptional creation by Emmanuel Reynaud (renowned winemaker of Château Rayas), expressing the iconic character of the Vaucluse terroir. This is a high-quality red wine distinguished by its depth, fruit purity, and remarkable balance.
The bouquet is dominated by black fruits, dried fruit, and subtle spice notes, complemented by elegant earthiness and delicate floral hints. On the palate, the wine is rounded and harmonious, with supple tannins, freshness retained by balanced acidity, and a long, refined finish.
The Merlot and Syrah grapes are grown on soils of limestone, sandstone, marl, and stones, under the warm Mediterranean climate. The harvest takes place only at full ripeness. In the cellar, the fermentation process is carefully overseen to ensure the purest expression of terroir. To achieve a fruit-forward and concentrated profile, maceration lasts 12–15 days, followed by aging in oak barrels (around 30% new oak).
Serve at 16-18°C with grilled meat, roasted eggplant, savory fig tart, hazelnuts, country ham, and Parmesan cheese.
Rayas – Domaine des Tours is a wine estate in the Southern Rhône Valley, closely associated with the Reynaud family, one of the most influential winemaking dynasties in the region. The estate is located near Sarrians, close to Vacqueyras, and is managed by Emmanuel Reynaud, who is also responsible for the legendary Château Rayas and Château de Fonsalette.
Domaine des Tours is considered an integral part of the Reynaud universe. It reflects the same core philosophy, interpreted through the lens of the Southern Rhône and on a more accessible scale. The estate cultivates traditional regional grape varieties: ‘Grenache’, ‘Cinsault’, ‘Syrah’, ‘Counoise’, and ‘Merlot’ for red wines, as well as ‘Grenache’ and ‘Clairette’ for whites. The vineyards are planted on sandy and stony soils, which help preserve purity of fruit and balance, even in warmer vintages.
Winemaking follows principles of minimal intervention. Fermentations often occur naturally, without added yeasts, and ageing takes place in old vessels or with very restrained use of oak, in order not to obscure the character of the site. The style is not driven by power or extraction, but by texture, clarity of fruit, and harmonious structure.
While Domaine des Tours is neither as rare nor as collectible as Château Rayas, it is widely regarded as an authentic introduction to the Reynaud philosophy and their interpretation of the Southern Rhône. These are wines that combine the region’s sunlight, varietal expression, and a quiet, unforced precision—qualities for which Reynaud family wines are valued by both professionals and experienced wine lovers.
