Sweet sweet
A classic example of sweet Bordeaux, Château Bel Air Sainte-Croix-du-Mont Cuvée Tradition reflects the uniqueness of this small but distinctive appellation, located on the opposite bank of the Garonne River from the famous Sauternes region. Here, wines are born where delicate sweetness meets freshness, and botrytized (“noble rot”) grapes bring remarkable aromatic depth and texture.
The aroma reveals notes of ripe apricot, candied orange peel, honey, and white peach, complemented by subtle hints of vanilla, herbs, and gentle spice. The bouquet is rich yet never heavy – soft, elegant, and harmoniously balanced.
On the palate, the wine shows a full yet lively structure. Its sweetness is perfectly balanced by bright acidity, giving it freshness and lift. Flavors of honey, caramelized fruit, citrus, and dried apricot unfold into a long, gently spiced, mineral finish.
The grapes grow on limestone- and clay-rich slopes overlooking the Garonne River. The combination of humid morning mists and sunny afternoons creates ideal conditions for the development of botrytis cinerea, allowing the berries to concentrate both sugar and aroma.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit, while aging on fine lees for several months adds texture and aromatic depth.
Serving suggestion: Serve at 10–12 °C with goose liver pâté (foie gras), blue cheese such as Roquefort or Gorgonzola, or lemon and almond desserts.
