Description

Hailing from the prestigious Bas-Armagnac region, "Darroze Domaine de Rieston 1997" is an exceptional single-estate vintage Armagnac from the exclusive "La Collection Unique" line, distilled from 40% Baco, 20% Ugni Blanc, 20% Folle Blanche, and 20% Colombard grapes. This spirit demonstrates a perfect harmony between youthful fruitiness, elegant minerality, and the oak maturity formed over decades in the barrel.

The aroma vividly reveals classic notes typical of this region: prunes, raisins, and dried apricots, enriched by complex nuances of leather, licorice, roasted coffee, brown tobacco, and cloves. On the palate, the Armagnac features a silky texture, rich and precisely balanced; it presents firm yet gentle tannins and harmoniously integrated alcohol, leaving an exceptionally long, warming finish.

Serving recommendations: This rare and complex Armagnac is best enjoyed neat at room temperature in a tulip-shaped glass, allowing it to breathe for at least 15–20 minutes. It pairs flawlessly with premium dark chocolate, coffee, and dried fruits.

About brand

Darroze in the world of Armagnac stands for far more than quality — it represents a philosophy. It is a family story spanning more than a century and one of the most authentic expressions of the Gascony region.

The story began at the end of the 19th century, when the Darroze family started working with local winegrowers in Gascony. However, it was in the mid-20th century, thanks to Francis Darroze, that the house took on its present identity. He understood that the true value of Armagnac lies not in volume or blending for consistency, but in specific places, soils, vintages, and the human hand behind them.

Darroze Armagnac is never blended to achieve a uniform taste profile. Each bottle reflects a single estate, a single harvest, and a single story. It is a spirit that evolves, matures, and gains complexity with time. For this reason, Darroze is often compared to great wines rather than industrial spirits.

Most Darroze Armagnacs come from the Bas-Armagnac region, considered the most refined and elegant part of the appellation. The sandy and clay-rich soils give the distillates their signature softness, aromatic depth, and long aging potential. Distillation is carried out using the traditional continuous column still, followed by slow, natural maturation in French oak barrels.

Today, Darroze is regarded as one of the most important guardians of traditional Armagnac. Its creations are highly valued by collectors, sommeliers, and spirits enthusiasts around the world.

This is not a mass-produced spirit — it is a living piece of Gascony’s history in a glass.
