Red dry
Markowitsch Ried Kirchweingarten Zweigelt 1ÖTW Carnuntum 2021 is a top-quality dry red wine from the Carnuntum region, made from carefully selected 'Zweigelt' grapes: a subtle and refined interpretation of the 'Zweigelt' grape variety, reflecting the characteristics of the terroir and the masterful work of the winemakers. The wine captivates with its restrained richness, excellent textural structure and harmony of fruit and tannins.
The grapes grow in the village of Höflein, directly below the church, on a gently sloping, southwest-facing slope. The soil here has a high proportion of clay, which gives the wine a special structure, fresh acidity and a distinctive character.
The wine reveals a concentrated but graceful structure, in which ripe red fruit and fine, silky tannins blend perfectly. The aftertaste is long, with subtle nuances of wet earth and minerality, which give it additional elegance. This is an expressive yet balanced wine with long-term aging potential.

Wonderful nose of sour cherries and blueberries with a slew of gingerbread spices. I love the restrained richness and textural complexity of this remarkable red from the zweigelt grape. Fantastic integration of fruit and fine tannins on the concentrated and graceful palate. Long finish with wet earth complexity. Very good aging potential. Sustainable. Drink or hold.
