Champagne Marc Hébrart Sélection 1er Cru Brut – this is the most representative Marc Hébrart Champagne, perfectly suited to introduce the style of this Champagne house.
Aromatic and fresh Brut Sélection delights with its balance. Lemon, white flowers, apricot, mint, chamomile, and plum are perfectly revealed in the Champagne glass. The Champagne demonstrates powerful 'Pinot Noir' acidity, perfectly balanced with Chouilly 'Chardonnay' minerality.
The Champagne is made from 65% 'Pinot Noir' from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and 35% 'Chardonnay' from grapes grown in the villages of Chouilly. After malolactic fermentation, the Champagne is aged on lees for 24 months. Vine age is over 40 years.
Dosage: 6g/l.
Serve at 6-8 °C with seafood, oysters, soft cheese plate.
Disgorged in May 2020, the latest release of the NV Extra-Brut Premier Cru Sélection is showing well, exhibiting aromas of citrus oil, white flowers, peach and fresh pastry. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly layered and precise, it's charming and beautifully refined, with a somewhat more chiseled profile reflecting Hébrart's move from Brut to Extra-Brut for this bottling.
Jean-Paul Hébrart took over the management of the Champagne Marc Hébrart estate from his father, Marc Hébrart, in 1997. The estate is located in the Vallée de la Marne subregion of Champagne. Marc Hébrart began producing champagne under his own name in 1964. Today, the family owns 14 hectares of vineyards spread across 65 plots in six villages: 1er Cru vineyards in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Avenay-Val-d'Or, and Bisseuil, as well as Grand Cru villages in Aÿ, Chouilly, and Oiry in the Côte des Blancs region.
The "Spécial Club Champagne" represents the highest classification level that grower-producers can achieve. Membership in this exclusive club requires strict adherence to rigorous quality standards, with an intensive, multi-stage inspection process that begins each year in early February. Marc Hébrart has been a member of Club Trésors de Champagne, also known as "Spécial Club," since 1985.
Wine Style
Hébrart Champagnes are full-bodied and expressive, yet not heavy. The entire range is of consistently high quality and offers an excellent price-to-quality ratio.
Prestigious Vineyards
The winery owns prestigious vineyards, some acquired as early as 1962. Among them, the most notable are:
These are complemented by lesser-known but uniquely expressive vineyards in Avenay-Val-d'Or and Bisseuil.
Aging and Consumption Period
Jean-Paul Hébrart Champagnes are perfectly balanced and enjoyable to drink immediately, while also having the potential to age and develop beautifully over time. For example, "Spécial Club" Champagnes are aged for 36 months before release, adding extra complexity and depth.
