Likerinis saldus
Grapes from various quality vineyards from São Jorge. Grapes were pressed in a continuous press. Arresting of fermentation takes place at the desired degree of sweetness by adding vinic alcohol (96%). Malvasia aged in French oak casks for over 10 years by the Canteiro method. Bright gold colour. Floral aromas, ripe citrus, honey and almonds. Lots of depth and well balanced, full and persistent spicy.
Total sugar: 101 g/l
Serve at 12-14°C with Christmas pudding, foie-gras, chocolate, crystallized fruits and cheese.
Quite a dark orangy tawny colour. Plenty of fruitcakey, rich, raisin, apricot and nutty aromas. Still a fairly reserved character. The Palate has plenty of orange and plenty of a burnt crème brûlée character. This is sweet, but not in any way cloying, with a glacial sweep of taut, pithy acidity that adds tension and lengthens the finish. This has lovely quality and a very juicy character.
Vinhos Barbeito was founded in 1946 by Mário Barbeito de Vasconcelos and has since then always been run by members family. Nature plays an important role in the production of their wines. They take advantage of the fact that they are aged in three distinct warehouses, all with different climatic characteristics and different sun exposers. This fact enables them to obtain an enormous variety of wines aged by the Canteiro method. All of these characteristics contribute to Barbeito's unique style: long and fresh acidity after taste.
