Baltasis sausas
This white wine of the estate is the blending of two Sauvignon Blanc clones: Sauvignon Musque with its slightly exotic flavors, and Sauvignon Blanc with a lean, gravely structure, produces a wine of great pleasure that speaks of the long warm summers and the dry cobbly soils. Starting with the 2013 vintage, extended elevage on the lees has added tension and aromatic complexity to this unique wine.
2020 was challenging from the very beginning: low winter rainfall early in the dormancy phase prevented an early bud break despite warm temperatures. The continuing trend in the spring led to hydric stress early in the growing season. That's why harvest started early, in the middle of August, and has finished in 1st September. This relatively early pick allowed to capture extraordinary freshness in the wines.
The wine was aged on their lees for 12 months, in a combination of stainless steel (28%), concrete eggs (14%), used oak (36%) and new oak (22%).
The nose of the 2020 Sauvignon Blanc slowly opens with scents of white flowers and candied nectarine. A gentle swirl unlocks incredibly delicate notes of pink grapefruit, orange blossom, lemon curd with meringue, white musk and a hint of oyster shell. The palate delivers crystalline minerality and creaminess with notes of toasted brioche, rose petal and lily of the valley, leading to a very pure and precise finish.
Serve at 10-12 °C with poultry or veal dishes seasoned with peas or asparagus with creamy cream sauce. The wine will go well with lightly grilled fish or salmon carpaccio.
The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant notes of nectarines, grapefruit and orange blossoms, plus hints of chalk dust, white pepper and oyster shell, with a gentle waft of beeswax. Medium-bodied, elegant and refreshing, the palate delivers impressive intensity with a backbone of racy acidity and a long, chalky finish.
Known previously as the Araujo Estate, Eisele Vineyard is now owned by François Pinault of Château Latour in Bordeaux.
First planted to vines in the 1880s, Eisele Vineyard sits in the northeast Napa Valley, just east of Calistoga at the base of the Palisades Mountain range. Farmed organically since 1998 and biodynamically since 2000, the site has been principally dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon for the last fifty years. Beginning with the inaugural release bearing the Eisele name in 1971, this iconic vineyard has received consistent recognition for possessing one of the great terroirs of Napa Valley. The wines invariably express the exceptional depth, elegance and longevity which are hallmarks of the Eisele Vineyard.
Eisele's vision is nothing less than to re-embrace the long history of Vineyard while realizing the full potential of this remarkable estate. Preserving and expanding upon the vineyard’s distinguished legacy in Napa Valley — and among the great winegrowing estates of the world — is both an honor and our aspiration. Through intellectual rigor, humility, and with the utmost respect for the land, our aim is to make wines that speak of the Eisele Vineyard in the most authentic way possible.
