Chateau Trotte Vieille - vienas seniausių ūkių St-Emilion apeliacijoje. Jo šaknys siekia 15-ą amžių. Šis ūkis turi vienus seniausių vynmedžių dešiniajame Bordo krante. Vidutinis vynmedžių amžius yra 50 metų, tačiau vynuogyne galima rasti ir virš 100 metų amžiaus turinčių medelių.
Vynas 12-18 mėnesių brandinamas beveik išimtinai naujo ąžuolo statinaitėse (apie 98% viso vyno).
The 2015 Trottevieille is blend of 49% Merlot, 49% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon picked between 28 September and 9 October matured in 100% new oak. It has a very intense bouquet, tightly wound with red and black fruit, hints of truffle coming through with aeration and then it appears to calm down and achieve a wonderful level of definition. The palate is medium-bodied with superb clarity. It feels supple in the mouth, extremely pure and soaking up the new oak with ease. It has a lively orange sorbet and red fruit-driven finish that is silky smooth in texture, thanks to the fineness of the tannin. Cellar this for 5-8 years minimum and then revel in this ascendant Saint Emilion for the next three or four decades.
Another wine that is better from bottle than the barrel, the wine has richness, chocolate covered red fruits, licorice, and espresso. The texture is soft, polished and caressing, the fruit has ripeness, elegance and flesh. There is length in the sweet, fruity finish. This is the best vintage of Trotte Vieille I have ever tasted!
A parchment of 1453 confirms the existence of viticulture and that the name "Trotte Vieille“ was used for this estate already in the 15th century. The name is derived from the fact that there lived a lady in this chartreuse in the 14th century. This little lady was very interested in what was going on in the town of Bordeaux and used thus to walk down to the close-by crossing where the stagecoaches stopped on their way coming from Bordeaux. As the lady seemingly often hasted to the coaches, the people of Saint-Emilion called her “la trotte vieille”, the “old trot”. This unusual name was used for the chateau already in the 15th century. In honor of the name-giving lady, Trotte Vieille’s second wine is called "La Vieille Dame de Trotte Vieille” Trotte Vieille is one of the oldest estates in Saint-Emilion and has some of the oldest vines of Bordeaux as some of these are pre-Phylloxera and thus more than 140 years old.
